6 Day Conference February 20th - 25th, 2015

Description

ULTRA EMG is a comprehensive 6-day course designed to address practice gaps and improve patient encounters identified by the Course Planning Committee, but also following recommended policies of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM, http://www.aanem.org).  This is a practical hands-on seminar on electrodiagnostic medicine, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular ultrasound, clinical neuromuscular physiology, and chemodenervation limited to medical physicians who wish to enhance and improve their skills. Course content is developed in cooperation with the The Ohio State University Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (http://pmr.osu.edu/). This course emphasizes practical skills sessions and live demonstrations of electromyographic and ultrasound techniques, management of dystonia and spasticity, and waveform analysis. Hands-on skills sessions provide opportunities for participants to interact with faculty on a daily basis.

Ultra EMG is designed so that sessions emphasizing neuromuscular or musculoskeletal content are concentrated in three day sessions.  This feature will allow physicians who wish to focus on one or the other of these to register for a three-day session rather than the entire course.

Dates and Times

Start: 2/20/2015 12:00 AM
End: 2/25/2015 12:00 AM

Objectives

Upon completion of this continuing medical education activity participants will be able to:
1.  Determine the best tests for common clinical presentations of pain, paresthesias and/or weakness;
2.  Employ fundamental and advanced techniques in the EMGexamination;
3.  Review the evolving computerization of EMG instrumentation;
4.  Determine the most effective use chemodevervation and neuroblocking agents for the treatment of pain, dystonia, spasm, or spasticity;
5.  Identify and understand the physiology of waveforms associated with electromyographic findings;
6.  Employ fundamental and advanced techniques in ultrasound examinations of nerve entrapments and common musculoskeletal conditions;
7.  Evaluate and improve the quality of his/her electrodiagnostic reports.
8.  (Optional) Assess his/her preparations for the Oral EMG Board Exam of the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM, http://www.abemexam.org).
