This conference has already taken place.
Description
1. Detect urgency and identify new treatments regimens for Hepatitis C as physicians may be unaware of the options.
2. Overcome barriers of managing different etiologies of chronic liver disease and decompensated cirrhosis.
3. While the number of transplants performed in the United States topped 30,000 for the first time in 2015, many physicians lack the skills to expertly treat individual transplant candidates. The 3rd Annual Hepatology Symposium will seek to teach greater understanding of timing and patient selection for referral for liver transplant.
4. Some physicians fail to recognize different options for transplantation: deceased donor liver transplant, pediatric liver transplant, living donor liver transplant, and expanded donor options for liver transplant.
5. Determine appropriate liver cancer screening and identify next steps for treatment.
The educational design of the conference will include live presentations, patient case studies and round table discussion of presented material. This format is beneficial because the learners are able to receive immediate feedback to their questions and further discussion for patient treatment is stimulated through physician interactions. A post event evaluation will be administered to gauge participants knowledge pertaining to areas of study outlined in the conferences learning objectives
