Description

The Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) is designed to emphasize innovation-oriented teamwork.  This continuing medical education activity will address gaps in knowledge about new techniques, devices or research applicable to  surgical subspecialities for the entire clinical treatment team. In addition, researchers will be able to interact with clinicians in determining areas for innovations all aspects of surgery-related technology, from tools for diagnosis and patient risk reduction to postoperative monitoring and care.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Identify current opportunities at OSU to be involved in innovative medical and surgical research.

2. Describe the barriers and potential solutions to delivering surgical care in an austere environment such as space or during military conflict.

3. Describe advances and evolving best practices in critical care and other subspecialties such as robotic surgery and transplant medicine and the impact on patient outcomes. 

4. Describe evolving and currently used techniques in for wound healing and tissue regeneration.

5. Identify pitfalls and successful strategies associated with surgical innovations research.

6. Describe the potential applications for Virtual Reality simulation training for providers across the spectrum of healthcare.
