Objective(s)

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1. Recognize the benefit of organ transplant outweighs the risk involved; recognize the risk of disease transmission and discuss these risks with possible transplant candidates.
2. Identify the factors in high acuity patients that lead to selecting good candidates for listing; recognize high risk recipient and high risk donor compatibility; Identify the financial risk as well as ethical or legal complications.
3. Identify the factors in high acuity patients that lead to selecting good candidates for listing; recognize high risk recipient and high risk donor compatibility; Identify the financial risk as well as ethical or legal complications.
4. Recognize the potential benefits of organ quality preservation; recognize the safety and feasibility of normothermic machine perfusion; recognize that normothermic machine perfusion expands the donor pool.  
5. Identify potential insurance/financial barriers that may impact transplant patients; identify pre-listing requirements, including in/out of network plans, private and Medicare insurance challenges; identify the new strategies for the continuing care of transplant patients related to the termination of the Medicaid spend down program.  
6. Identify the latest national data of readmission in patients with liver transplantation with the community of transplantation in Ohio; identify the predictors of early readmission and the most common reasons of readmission in post liver transplant patients; identify the predictors of mortality in patient after liver transplantation. 
7. Recognize the common side effects of valganciclovir post lung transplant; identify the mechanism and side effect profile of letermovir. 
8. Recognize the risk factors for low bone mineral density and fractures in pediatric solid organ transplant patients; recognize recommendations from the International Society for Clinical Densitometry and limitations with DXA; recognize the implementation and assessment of a bone health monitoring algorithm in pediatric liver, lung, and small bowel transplantation.
9. Explain how to foster timely initiation of treatment and mitigation of barriers to transplant; describe how to optimize responsible stewardship of limited health care resources; engage transplant psychology and psychiatry for further evaluation and treatment.
10. Recognize interdisciplinary mobility rounding and benefits of collaboration for patients and staff; identify the importance of family engagement related to improved mobility outcomes; recognize the importance of integrating ABCDEF Bundle into unit culture/best practice.
