Description
DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY SLEEP SYMPOSIUM HAS BEEN SCHEDULED AS AN ONLINE/ VIRTUAL CONFERENCE. INSTRUCTIONS ON ACCESSING MEETING WILL BE SENT BY EMAIL TO ALL REGISTRANTS CLOSER TO THE MEETING DATE.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a wide spread disease that affects quality of life and cardiovascular health. There is also now data looking at its effects on cognitive function that is emerging and is important for sleep medicine health care providers to be aware of as it effects how patients are managed and counseled. Positive airway pressure (PAP) is the standard of care but adherence to therapy is less than 50%. Sleep medicine providers are routinely facing issues with how to aid their patients with PAP adherence as well as having a good knowledge base of the alternate to PAP therapy for OSA. The symposium will be addressing both these topics.
In addition, physicians may be unaware of new diagnosis and therapy options for narcolepsy patients in the past 1-2 years that will affect clinical practice. This will be covered by the symposium as well.
In addition, central sleep apnea in heart failure patients is a difficult patient population to manage due to limited options, we will cover phrenic nerve stimulator as an option to treat these patients.
