Objectives

1. Briefly review the epidemiology of atrial fibrillation.

2. Review guidelines and discuss management of atrial fibrillation patients requiring procedures in regards to anticoagulation.

3. Discuss the challenges of managing triple patients and review strategies to mitigate bleeding risk.

4. Address the ambiguity of perioperative atrial fibrillation management, both immediately and long term, and provide evidence for management strategies.
