As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to: DEFINE resistant hypertension; UNDERSTAND the causes of secondary hypertension and workup; DIAGNOSE resistant hypertension, identify those who require screening for secondary workup; and UNDERSTAND appropriate testing and management of resistant hypertension and secondary hypertension.

Today on MedNet21, we're going to discuss Resistant Hypertension.

One should understand the definition of resistant hypertension as well as the initial workup of resistant hypertension leading up to referral to a specialist for workup of secondary causes.  Learners should be able to appropriately determine true resistant hypertension, perform initial evaluation and
management. They should have a preliminary understanding of causes of secondary hypertension and when it is appropriate to refer to a specialist for further evaluation and management.
