1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit Hours

Description

One in three individuals are projected to be affected by cancer in their lifetime with the number of cancer survivors anticipated to grow from 15 million to 19 million by 2024. There is an established correlation between survivors with unmet needs and decreased adherence to treatment and surveillance as well as worse perceived mental and physical health. Studies have shown up to 30% of surveyed cancer survivors have at least one psychological, physical, social or spiritual need. Disparities have been well documented with those from underserved and minority populations having inequitable access to quality survivorship care. Access is further limited given the need for provider training and a dearth of available educational resources.

This activity will advance provider knowledge and delivery of guideline directed cancer survivorship care. Six sessions composed of didactics, case-based, and multidisciplinary discussion of core cancer survivorship topics will be delivered. Topics will be cultivated after selection via a needs-based assessment. The needs-based assessment has also been submitted for review.
