This conference has already taken place.
Description
Ultra EMG is a comprehensive hands-on course on electrodiagnostic medicine, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular ultrasound, and clinical neuromuscular physiology limited to medical physicians who wish to enhance and improve their skills. Course content is developed in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Medical Education. Ultra EMG is offered as a full six-day long course conveniently designed as two three-day long courses back-to-back - Ultra EMG I and Ultra EMG II. Ultra EMG should be considered an intermediate to advanced course with basic sessions included in both I and II
Ultra EMG I includes introduction to electrodiagnosis, electrodiagnosis of neuromuscular disorders, applications of neuromuscular ultrasound, and chemodenervation. Ultra EMG II includes electrodiagnosis of focal neuropathies and radiculopathies, refinement of electrodiagnostic techniques, introduction to musculoskeletal ultrasound, musculoskeletal ultrasound of the upper limb, and needle guidance with ultrasound.
Both Ultra EMG I and Ultra EMG II emphasize hands-on, practical sessions with some video presentations of electromyographic techniques, ultrasonography, and waveform analysis. Hands-on skills sessions and training tables provide opportunities for participants to interact with faculty on a daily basis in small groups.

End: 2/14/2014 12:00 AM
Objectives
Upon completion of this conference the participant will be able to:
- Determine the best tests for common clinical presentations of pain, paresthesias and/or weakness.
- Employ fundamental and advanced techniques in the EMG examination.
- Review the evolving computerization of EMG instrumentation.
- Employ fundamental and advanced techniques in ultrasound examinations of nerve entrapments and common musculoskeletal conditions.
- Evaluate and improve the quality of his/her electrodiagnostic reports.
- Identify and understand the physiology of waveforms associated with electromyographic findings.
- Determine the most effective use of neuroblocking agents for the treatment of pain, dystonia, spasm, or spasticity.
