Today on MedNet21, we're going to discuss Influenza.

Influenza continues to be a disease which continues to place a substantial burden on the health of people of the United States. In 2017-2018 the CDC estimated the burden of illness was 48.8 million people getting sick with influenza, 22.7 million people going to a health care provider, 959,000 hospitalizations and 79,400 deaths from influenza. Currently, the best recommendation to prevent
influenza is vaccination. Here we will review the different influenza vaccines available, treatment strategies, and infection prevention methods to prevent spread of influenza.

Objectives

As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to: REVIEW the different influenza vaccination strategies, and which influenza vaccine is appropriate for a specific patient population; and REVIEW the literature surrounding influenza treatment, infection control and post
exposure prophylaxis.
