Description
The field of benign hematology, malignant hematology and bone marrow transplant are rapidly evolving with new therapies FDA approved almost monthly. The recent advances in cancer immunology and therapeutics related to this has bolstered the rapidly changing field. As many healthcare providers outside of a large academic practice have the responsibility to treat all disease, this rapidly changing field with constant new data and new FDA approved therapies is difficult to keep up with. This new data is practice changing and needs to be incorporated into clinical practice and needs to be adapted once the benefits are realized.
Keynote:
Marcos de Lima, MD, is professor in the Division of Hematology at Ohio State and director of both the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy programs at the OSUCCC – James.
Before joining the OSUCCC – James, de Lima was co-leader of the Hematopoietic and Immune Cancer
Biology Program at Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, and director of the Hematologic Malignancies and Stem Cell Transplant Program at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center. He has years of experience in developing and conducting clinical trials involving stem cell transplantation
for cancers originating in blood-borne tissue, bone marrow or immune system cells.
