Description

Chronic nausea and vomiting represent a diverse array of disorders defined by 4 weeks or more of symptoms. Chronic nausea and vomiting result from a variety of pathophysiological processes, involving gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal causes. The economic impact of chronic nausea and vomiting and effects on quality of life are substantial.  Thangam Venkatesan, MD, Professor of Internal Medicine is the expert panelist in this MedNet 21 webcast moderated by Shengyi Mao, MD, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, and Medical Editor of MedNet 21.

Objectives

As a result of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

1. Define chronic nausea and vomiting and delineate the various causes
2. Discuss common causes of vomiting: cyclic vomiting syndrome and cannabinoid hyperemesis.
3. Describe the management of cyclic vomiting syndrome.
