October 2nd, 2026 0.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ Hours
Description
Anxiety and depression are among the most common mental health conditions encountered in primary care and frequently present with physical rather than psychological symptoms. Through a case-based discussion, this session will review current evidence-based guidelines for screening, diagnosis, and management of anxiety and depression in the outpatient setting. Participants will learn how to interpret PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores, evaluate for medical and substance-related contributors, implement first-line pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment strategies, and perform appropriate suicide risk assessment. Practical clinical pearls and OSUWMC-aligned approaches will be highlighted to help providers confidently manage these common conditions in primary care.
