Description

According to National Institutes of Health between 3 and 8 of every 100 women will get gestational diabetes while pregnant. Diabetes during pregnancy raises the risk of problems for the baby and the mother.

Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to: 1.) Discuss the need to detect gestational diabetes in pregnancy, and methods presently in use for screening and diagnosis. 2.) Explain the use of dietary therapy, the indications for insulin and oral agents, and strategies for monitoring maternal glucose control.
