Description

The purpose of this conference is to discuss cutting-edge aspects of the different (translational & clinical) disciplines in wound care that need to be addressed in tandem to improve delivery of wound care as whole.

We have assembled top-level national experts in an academic medical center setting such that participants may include a large number of students, clinicians who practice wound care as well as researchers to promote knowledge dissemination and advancement in the emerging field of regenerative medicine in stem cell and tissue engineering wound applications.

The target audience for this program includes a wide variety of healthcare professionals, including but not limited to Nutritionists, Social Workers, Educators, Researchers, Nurses, Physicians, Wound Specialists, Administrators, Public Health Professionals, Case Management Professionals, Civil Service Professionals

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Implement into practice the latest research affecting the care of wound patients such as stem cells and their role in regenerative medicine, the role of skin scaffolding with the wounded patient, and other advances in tissue engineering.
  • Implement strategies for tissue-on-demand into their daily practice.
  • Implement management strategies for chronic wounds into their daily practice.
  • Utilize their knowledge of chronic wounds, especially those leading to limb loss and/or death, and implement strategies to treat these serious cases.
  • Recognize the full potential in regards to common therapies, their appropriate uses, limitations, and how they should be used in practice as well as recognize indications as to when to refer a patient for more advanced
  • Recognize proven, evidence-based, effective multidisciplinary strategies that can decrease cost and improve outcomes in the wounded patient.
