This conference has already taken place.
Description
Clinicians are challenged on how to address requests for morally troubling therapies or interventions in a time of changing ethics and law. Further, the increased diversity of views of health and medicine due to immigration and multi-culturalism has complicated considerations. Finally, the addition of end-of-life decision making into the consideration of conscientious refusals has provided a previously unappreciated dilemma.
The Conference desires to give physicians a rich and contextual understanding of the dilemma of conscientious refusals and the interplay of patient rights and physician duties. The participants will incorporate into their consideration a new framing for the dilemma that includes perspectives that they had previously not considered fully. Live lectures and case presentations with extended question, answer, and discussion along with case review will stimulate and challenge learners.
If you have a challenging case that you would like to present at the conference, please download the call for cases flyer at the bottom of this page for information. New cases will be considered until October 10th.
