As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to: identify the key indications for participation and scope of cardiac rehabilitation programs; discuss the fundamental principles of exercise testing and prescription, contrasting normal from abnormal responses to exercise; understand the scientific rationale for pulmonary rehabilitation; and understand expected outcomes with pulmonary rehabilitation.

Today on MedNet21, we're going to discuss Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Learners should identify the cardiovascular conditions in which cardiac rehabilitation may be potentially beneficial and covered by health insurance, in particular, coronary revascularization, angina, heart valve replacement/repair, or chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.
They should view cardiac rehabilitation as a comprehensive secondary preventive treatment program that extends beyond exercise training alone.  Learners should become familiar with generally normal and abnormal responses of the cardiovascular system to exercise.

The audience should expect to learn about the rationale and indications for pulmonary rehabilitation.  The audience should also expect to learn about the program components found in pulmonary
rehabilitation and beneficial outcomes associated with this intervention.
