Description

THIS CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION ACTIVITY HAS REACHED MAXIMUM REGISTRATION NUMBERS.  REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

This continuing medical education activity is intended to be an outreach conference for healthcare teams managing critically ill patients who may require Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS).  Medical personnel that are involved with insertion of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation with the intent to transfer patients to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center  (OSUWMC) for ECMO management will be provided an overview of the OSUWMC process on patient selection and initiation of ECLS as well as identifying a process for short term initial management and transfer to OSUWMC within 24 hours of initiation.

The use of Extracorporeal Life Support has grown rapidly in the US in recent years.  The Ross Heart Hospital at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has extensive experience in this exciting field for the last 10 years. The purpose of this symposium is to provide an educational framework and to offer support for clinicians and hospitals who are interested in developing or furthering a community-based ECLS program. There will also be information for centers who are interested in having the ability to place patients on ECLS and transfer them to an experienced ECLS program for management.
