Description
This activity will address gaps in LP faculty knowledge and skills, specifically understanding how to help medical students
make and achieve learning goals, as well as gain practical coaching skills in order to help students in the LP program.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
1. Describe how practicing physicians can use coaching skills to foster professional growth in the medical learner.
2. Define specific coaching skills LP preceptors can use in the clinic with LP students.
3. Explain the interplay between the LP program and the Portfolio Coach program and how LP preceptors and portfolio coaches can collaborate.
4. Describe how practicing physicians can foster professional growth in the medical learner.
5. Learn how to give concise, constructive feedback to students.
6. Determine ways to integrate LP students into the clinical team and help them understand the value of each team member’s role.
7. Describe best practices for incorporating coaching skills in the clinic setting at LP sessions.
8. Learn how to help students see the bigger picture of patient care and prioritize needs.
9. Discuss common challenges and pitfalls encountered with students in the LP program and how to overcome them.
