Description

The management of patients with vascular diseases changes rapidly. Ultrasonography is the predominant imaging modality used in the screening, diagnosis, and long-term management and follow-up of patients with vascular diseases. Given the rapid changes in practice management, gaps may exist in current knowledge or practices. Therefore, a comprehensive review of new technologies, current best practices, and other informational updates regarding vascular disease and its ultrasound imaging will be provided through this conference.

Objectives

  1. At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

    1. Update the participants on the role of ultrasound in imaging hemodialysis.
    2. Review new technologies and what to expect when imaging with new technologies.
    3. Identify role of remote monitoring and coaching for acquisition and interpretation of ultrasound
    4. Update the participants on the nuances of reporting and the clinical significance of those reports.
    5. Provide education on imaging techniques and differences between the variations of thoracic outlet syndrome.
    6. Discuss medical management of peripheral vascular disease and the role ultrasound imaging plays in clinical decision making.
    7. Identify new teaching paradigms in ultrasound education as it is taught to non-sonographers.
    8. Discuss the new education tracks available to sonography students and the advantages of these programs.
    9. Update the participants on their role and how they can be effective teachers for surgical residents and fellows.
    10. Discuss methods for prevention and recovery from work-related injury.
    11. Recognize techniques and best practices for meditation or mindfulness.
    12. Review new technology and methodology for determining the age of deep vein thrombus.
