1 Day Conference September 20th, 2024
6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit Hours

Description

The upcoming 2024 Ohio State Sleep Symposium aims to cover some of the most challenging and cutting-edge topics in sleep medicine. Objectives have been crafted to enhance the skills of sleep medicine providers for the most complex patients, including patients having difficulty with hypoglossal nerve stimulation. The event will also tackle the complexities of non-invasive ventilation in patients with chronic respiratory failure, a critical area often managed by sleep providers. Furthermore, the symposium will delve into the increasingly common use of cannabis for sleep management in the population, aiming to bridge the knowledge gap with the latest research findings. Lastly, the symposium will address the management of restless leg syndrome, discussing strategies for handling this often difficult-to-control condition. This in person forum promises to be an invaluable resource for clinicians and allied health professionals seeking to elevate their practice in sleep medicine and network with professionals in the region. We hope to see you there!

Objectives

1. Managing hypoglossal nerve stimulators in patients with OSA. HNS is not a common treatment modality and gaps in competence and practice exist for several sleep medicine providers regarding this therapy.
2. Patients with chronic respiratory failure tend to be complicated and gaps in competence and performance for non-invasive ventilation exist as patients become more complicated to manage.
3. The general population manage their sleep symptoms by using cannabis. However, gaps in competence exist in terms of what has been studied and shown in the literature.
4. Gaps in performance exist for managing patients with difficult to control restless leg syndrome.
