Description
This activity is designed to change learner competence in various areas of rapidly changing medical practice relevant for the IM Hospitalist and IM/Peds practicing physician. Attendees will identify guideline updates in medicine across the lifespan including transitions of care and specific challenges for our aging population. They will gain competence in specific disease states including heart failure, oncologic emergencies, allergic reactions, HIV and urologic care. Attendees will also improve their teaching performance as either active (as a judge) or passive participants in a case-based poster session.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
1. Utilize updates in current literature within the field of hospital medicine and IM/Peds.
2. Explain changing approaches through ages of care in medicine.
3. Identify low value common pitfalls to avoid.
4. Explore the use of evolving technologies in medicine.
5. Determine appropriate evidence-based treatment steps in patients with various common emergent diagnoses.
6. Assess the role of policy on health outcomes.
