Objectives

At the conclusion of this continuing medical education activity participants should be able to:

1. Identify heart failure management strategies beyond the four pillars of guideline-directed medical therapy.
2. Describe key successful strategies in outpatient heart failure specialty programs (transition of care, wellness, and pharmacy).
3. Review pulmonary hypertension management associated with HFpEF.
4. Understand the role of right heart catheterization and hemodynamic profiling in evaluation of HFpEF.
5. Incorporate current clinical evidence in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with myocardial disease (inflammatory/infiltrative cardiomyopathies).
6. Review emerging device-based technologies and multidisciplinary strategies across the structural heart, electrophysiology, and heart failure interface.
7. Identify current best practice for surgical management of heart failure patients.
8. Outline advances in cardiogenic shock management, early triage, and rapid access to temporary mechanical circulatory support and advanced therapies (LVAD and heart transplantation).
9. Recognize the need for palliative care among heart failure patients, when to refer, and describe strategies for management.
10. Explore special topics in heart failure including genetics, cardio-oncology, and arrhythmias.
