Description
The HALT+/-D procedure is a novel approach for highly allosensitized patients undergoing heart transplants. This procedure involves a reverse dual heart-liver transplant, where the liver is transplanted first, followed by the heart, which helps to lower rejection rates for patients with elevated antibody levels. This method is particularly beneficial for patients on mechanical assist devices, as it minimizes the risk of immune rejection by decreasing the levels of donor-specific alloantibodies.
