About the Speaker:
"Hello, my name is Mike Ibarra. I am a 32 year old sleep neurologist. I grew up in El Paso, Texas and remained in Texas for undergrad and medical school. I moved to Rochester, New York for five years and completed my neurology residency and my sleep medicine fellowship. After training, I moved back to Texas to be with my family. I am currently employed by UT Southwestern by the neurology and sleep department.
I am very passionate about teaching and being an advocate for the ALS community. I travel around the country, giving talks to doctors and patients in order to bridge the gap between patient-physician. I provided my expertise in neurology and sleep medicine to the ALS community. I’ve worked with many local, state, and national organizations to give talks and raise money for ALS research. This has been a very rewarding endeavor. My other passion is traveling the world. I have had the privilege of teaching medical students in several different countries."
