Objectives

1. Participants should be familiar with non-operative modalities offered through the Integrative Medicine department (acupuncture, chiropractor, massage therapy, etc) and know when a patient may benefit from a referral.Understand literacy, healthcare literacy and how this plays a role in patient interactions with the healthcare system and outcomes
2. Participants should understand the phases of rehabilitation and the various treatments offered/modalities used by our occupational and physical therapists (including cryotherapy, dry needling, electrical stimulation, cupping, blood flow restriction, laser therapy).
3. Participants should have a better appreciation for therapy services, find out what therapists wish orthopaedic surgeons knew about their field, get rid of common misconceptions they have about therapy, and learn ways to improve their relationship with their therapists (ie better communication, more detailed treatment recommendations, etc).
