Description
Pathology Grand Rounds is a common education activity and is found in most pathology
departments around the country and is an important teaching tool. In many teaching institutions, grand rounds
are a weekly educational activity and a time-honored tradition. Each event will consist of a lecture by an invited
speaker either by The Ohio State University, or from an outside institute and will be of national repute in basic
science or in clinical/anatomic pathology. The most important objectives of this educational series in Pathology is
to educate faculty and trainees, showcase faculty role models, and promote a collegial atmosphere. The 50-
minute presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

Objectives
1. Review recent advances in the identification and diagnosis of current and emerging disease states.
2. Discuss the pathophysiology of various disease states and the multidisciplinary considerations that affect
patient care outcomes.
3. Discuss recent developments in scientific research and their application to the practice of pathology and
laboratory medicine.
4. Discuss recent developments in diagnostic technologies and their application to the provision of enhances laboratory services.
