Objectives
“The Ethics of Artificial Womb Technology”:
- Compare and contrast the anatomical distinctions between artificial placenta and artificial womb technologies and their ethical implications.
- Explain the advantages and disadvantages of conventional versus novel nomenclature when discussing patients and research participants on artificial womb support.
- Describe the clinical and ethical barriers to initiating first-in-human research trials using artificial womb technology.
“Moral Distress and Moral Injury: How Differing Approaches to Ethics Lead Impact Neonatal Nurses and Neonatologists”:
- Appreciate the differences in moral reasoning employed by nurses and physicians in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
- Assess the critiques of the ethics of care and principlism.
- Clarify how differences in moral reasoning lead to moral distress in the NICU.
