Description
Dr. Saygin uses multimodal neuroimaging to investigate how the human brain develops, becomes functionally specialized, and adapts across the lifespan. Her research integrates key pillars of neuroimaging—including structural MRI, functional MRI (fMRI), diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and functional connectivity—to understand the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive development, learning, brain plasticity, and recovery from injury. A major focus of her work is the development of imaging biomarkers that can predict developmental outcomes, treatment response, and resilience to neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders, with applications spanning dyslexia, mental health conditions, traumatic brain injury, and concussion.
