Objectives

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the ethical foundations of organ procurement, including definitions of death and the role of the dead donor rule in transplantation ethics.

2. Examine competing perspectives on revising definitions of death and the dead donor rule, including their implications on personhood and public trust.

3. Recognize the unique contributions of a nursing ethics lens in preserving procedural protections, professional integrity, and ethical principles in organ procurement practices.
