6th Annual Translational to Clinical Regenerative Medicine Wound Conference

March 14th - 16th, 2013

This conference has already taken place.

The Ohio Union - Columbus, OH
3 Day Conference March 14th - 16th, 2013
15.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit Hours

Description

Knowledge deficiencies exist in translational science whereby the researcher/clinician relationship is limited or non-existent, therefore, not allowing findings to be applied to direct patient care in a timely manner. Stem cells and tissue engineering and their role in regenerative medicine wound care are also increasingly discussed in leading scientific journals; however, that evidence is often overlooked by the practicing clinician as they do not routinely see this evidence or understand how to implement any of the presented strategies.  Therefore, a presentation of this evidence will provide the practicing clinician vision of this emerging technology with an understanding of how it may be applied to their wounded patients.

Dates and Times

Start: 3/14/2013 12:00 AM
End: 3/16/2013 12:00 AM

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Implement into practice the latest research affecting the care of wound patients such as stem cells and their role in regenerative medicine, the role of skin scaffolding with the wounded patient, and other advances in tissue engineering.
  • Implement strategies for tissue-on-demand into their daily practice.
  • Implement management strategies for chronic wounds into their daily practice.
  • Utilize their knowledge of chronic wounds, especially those leading to limb loss and/or death, and implement strategies to treat these serious cases.
  • Recognize the full potential in regards to common therapies, their appropriate uses, limitations, and how they should be used in practice as well as recognize indications as to when to refer a patient for more advanced therapies.
  • Recognize proven, evidence-based, effective multidisciplinary strategies that can decrease cost and improve outcomes in the wounded patient.
