Description
The Third International Symposium on Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS) and Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is sponsored in part by a grant from the National Institutes of Health
This symposium will explore the pathophysiology of these disorders, detail state-of-the-art therapeutic approaches, and develop future research priorities in the field. This multidisciplinary symposium brings basic neuroscientists, GI physiologists, clinical neurologists, gastroenterologists, and geneticists all together to focus on CVS and CHS. The audience will not only learn about current diagnosis and management of these disorders, but also learn about cutting edge research in these areas.
We hope to directly tackle the controversy of whether CHS is a separate pathophysiologic entity or simply a subset of CVS triggered by cannabis exposure. This symposium intends to identify the role that the endocannabinoid signaling system may play in both CVS and CHS, as well as clarify the clinical relationship between these two disorders. This symposium will also serve as a platform to foster the next generation of young investigators with a special emphasis on including women and under-represented minorities among the wide array of speakers.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this event, learners should be able to:
•Explain clinical phenotypes, outcomes, and patient perspectives about CVS in adults
•Identify the relationship between migraine and CVS
•Recognize cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome and its overlap with CVS
•Recognize the clinical overlap between CVS and some chronic disorders of nausea and vomiting
•Understand central neural mechanisms of nausea and vomiting
•Identify the role of gut-brain interaction, and gut microbiota in CVS
•Review guidelines for the management of both pediatric and adult CVS
•Review use of neuromodulation, meditation, and action plans in CVS
