As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to: APPLY a practical approach to the differential diagnosis of thrombocytopenia associated with acute kidney injury; DIFFERENTIATE the causes of thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) and their potential for causing renal failure; DIFFERENTIATE the more common causes of thrombocytopenia from the rare and serious causes of thrombocytopenia that require a specific management strategy; and RECOGNIZE and diagnose the more causes of thrombocytopenia (HIT, ITP, and TTP) that require rapid identification and specialized treatment.

Today on MedNet21, we're going to discuss Approach to Thrombocytopenia.

Learners should expect to learn about the causes of thrombocytopenia, and be able to differentiate the common, less serious forms of thrombocytopenia from the more serious and rare causes of thrombocytopenia that require a more specific management.
