Description

Today on MedNet21, we're going to discuss Metabolic Syndrome.

Learner should be able to describe the general impact of metabolic syndrome and identify the criteria used to establish this syndrome. The basics of physiologic drivers of metabolic syndrome should be understood. Management goals, comorbid conditions and pharmacologic treatment options will also be introduced.

Objectives

As a result of this educational activity, webcast

participants will be able to:  understand the importance and impact of

metabolic syndrome; understand the definitions and criteria for establishing

metabolic syndrome; learn strategies to engage with patients in order to

promote lifestyle changes that can help reduce weight, blood pressure, and

improve their cholesterol; and understand the different medications available

for weight management and how they differ based on their mechanism of action

and expected results.
