Description

This course will address the new techniques and practices being implemented within the care of bariatric patients. These new techniques will include the use of medication in place of surgery, new surgical practices, peri-operative and post-operative care. Emphasis will include communicating the options available for the bariatric patient as well as delineating how bariatrics bridges several medical fields, including surgery, endocrinology, dietetics and nutrition, orthopedics, and peri-operative and post-operative care. Advances in technology and the plastics industry also contribute to the advances in bariatric care. Patients who have experienced various types of bariatric care will be included in a panel discussion.
