Description

The population of adults with congenital heart disease is growing rapidly in the United States, and the incidence of arrhythmias in this patient population increases with age.  However, the heterogeneity of anatomic congenital lesions complicates the care of these patients. This aging ACHD population may create a burden to health care systems, as there is no formal ACHD EP training standard. Currently ACHD arrhythmia care is delivered by a wide spectrum of clinical providers. How best to care for arrhythmia issues in adults with congenital heart disease has not been established. Therefore, collaboration between ACHD programs, congenital EP programs, and adult EP programs is necessary to optimize care of ACHD patients.

The Big Ten ACHD, Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Symposium aims to feature common arrhythmia issues in ACHD patients, including conduction system abnormalities, pacing/device considerations, and procedural considerations and to establish a collaborative educational initiative to improve arrhythmia management of ACHD patients.

Dates and Times

Start: 12/5/2025 8:00 AM
End: 12/5/2025 5:00 PM

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
1. Explain variability in arrhythmia management considerations in ACHD patients;
2. Analyze unique arrhythmia issues is specific ACHD patients and evaluate options for care;
3. Design a multi-institutional collaboration for ACHD arrhythmia education.
