Objectives

1. Summarize the role of general psychiatrists within the legal system and identify the common evaluations where they may be called upon to testify.
2. Explain the differences between expert and fact witnesses and define “reasonable medical certainty” as it applies to opinion making.
3. Practice skills and utilize strategies that will enable him/her to be a more effective witness in the courtroom.
