Description

Pathology Grand Rounds is a common education activity and is found in most pathology departments around the country and is an important teaching tool.  In many teaching institutions, grand rounds are a weekly educational activity and a time-honored tradition.  Each event will consist of a lecture by an invited speaker either by The Ohio State University, or from an outside institute and will be of national repute in basic science or in clinical/anatomic pathology.  The most important objectives of this educational series in Pathology is to educate faculty and trainees, showcase faculty role models, and promote a collegial atmosphere.  The 50-minute presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

Objectives

1. Review recent advances in the identification and diagnosis of current and emerging disease states.

2. Discuss the pathophysiology of various disease states and the multidisciplinary considerations that affect patient care outcomes.

3. Identify recent changes in requirements for accreditation, licensing, and regulatory compliance in across and across all divisions of pathology.

4. Discuss recent developments in scientific research and their application to the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine.

5. Discuss recent developments in diagnostic technologies and their application to the provision of enhances laboratory services.
