Objectives
-Better understand the pathophysiology of the gut-brain axis and identify the prevalence and clinical impact of psychiatric comorbidities in disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI), including IBS.
-Feel more confident to apply evidence-based principles of pharmacologic neuromodulation including general medication selection and dosing in GI psychiatry.-Understand options for patients using brain-gut behavioral therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy, gut-directed hypnotherapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and biofeedback, and identify the appropriate clinical application for each modality.
