Description

According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, EKG is used to display how fast the heart is beating, whether the rhythm of the heartbeat is steady or irregular, and the strength and timing of electrical signals as they pass through each part of your heart. This activity is supported in part by educational grants from Merck and Astellas.

Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity the participant will be able to: 1.) Describe EKG aspects of ventricular tachycardia. 2.) Review EKG abnormalities of acute ischemia. 3.) Describe the differential diagnoses for ST segment changes. 4.) Evaluate EKG abnormalities that are due to non-cardiac conditions.
