According to the National Institutes of Health, a variety of machines and techniques can create pictures of the structures and activities inside the body. X-rays, CT scans, nuclear medicine scans, MRI scans and ultrasound are all types of diagnostic imaging.

Upon completion of this education activity, the participant will be able to: 1.) Review the appropriate utilization of imaging studies for commonly encountered conditions and diagnoses. 2.) Identify the preferred imaging modality for common clinical symptoms effecting the chest, abdomen and pelvis and musculoskeletal system.
