As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to:  know the recommended testing options available for the diagnosis of HIV; know the various measures/means to prevent opportunistic and common infections in patients living with HIV; provide an overview of current HIV Pre-exposure prophylaxis modalities; and describe how a comprehensive approach to HIV testing, PrEP, and treatment can help us to end the HIV Epidemic.

Today on MedNet21, we're going to discuss HIV Update. 

The audience should expect to learn current epidemiology, including most affected populations, current testing modalities and the importance of preventive measures.

Learners will learn about the current options for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis and their indications.  Learners will also be familiarized with general antiretroviral treatment principles including early treatment to rapidly achieve viral suppression the use of treatment as prevention (undetectable=untransmittable).  Learners will also become familiar with the increased risk of cardiovascular disease in people with HIV.

It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
