Description

DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC THE 2022 COLLEGE OF MEDICINE ANNUAL EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM HAS BEEN SCHEDULED AS AN ONLINE/ VIRTUAL CONFERENCE.  INSTRUCTIONS ON ACCESSING MEETING WILL BE SENT BY EMAIL TO ALL REGISTRANTS CLOSER TO THE MEETING DATE.

The planning committee for Eliminating Bias & Fostering Inclusion in Health Sciences Curricula, based on the work of El-Amin et al. (2017), has identified three core needs related to critical consciousness:

First, we need a common language and framework to discuss identity and inequality.  This language is an important tool for identifying, interpreting, and discussing issues related to identity and inequality.

Second, we need space to grapple with identity and inequality.  This space is critical for deepening understanding about identity and inequality and for growing commitment for change and advocacy.

Finally, we need specific strategies for how to take action; after all, awareness without action is worthless.
