Description
The outcome of a successful lung volume reduction surgery depends on many factors that go beyond a good surgical technique. Good case selection by an experienced multidisciplinary team for COPD/emphysema patients is key for a successful LVRS program. As we present each case, supporting evidence and best management practice will be discussed among a MDT that includes thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, interventional pulmonologists, radiologists, a physiotherapists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists and nurses.

Objectives
1.Describe best practices for management of patients with advanced COPD/emphysema
2. Interpret radiological findings for patients with emphysema
3. Outline the workup required for patients with COPD prior to decision making on lung volume reduction technique
4. Discuss and evaluate best post-operative care that can improve patient outcome for patients undergoing lung volume reduction surgery
