- Expand understanding of placebo to include both implicit and explicit elements that that are in constant interaction with broader culture and interact with individual personality.
- Review how placebo has been studied in medicine with focus on psychiatric diagnoses.
- Outline essential elements of placebo and treatment effect that are relevant to psychiatric treatment.
- Summarize and suggest ways that providers can better understand placebo beyond a factor that needs to be controlled for.
