Objectives

-Participants will be able to describe the development of the evidence-based practice titled the “Six Core Strategies to Prevent Conflicts, Violence and the Use of Seclusion and Restraint in Behavioral Health Settings.

-Participants will understand the use of the Public Health Prevention Model with regard to preventing conflicts and violence in behavioral health settings and how these this public health strategies are aligned in this work.

-Participants will be able to define three of the Six Core Strategies and how these are effective in preventing conflicts and violence.

-Participants will be able to articulate the important of avoiding coercive measures for both people in care and staff who serve them.
