Objectives

-Describe current epidemiologic trends in adolescent cannabis use, including changes in legalization, perceived harm, potency, and disparities in use patterns across demographic groups.

-Explain neurodevelopmental and psychiatric mechanisms linking adolescent cannabis use with neurocognitive functioning and co-occurring mental health concerns, to inform mechanistically driven intervention targets.

-Evaluate the role of schools as public health platforms for improving equitable access to behavioral health services, including universal screening (Tier 1), early intervention (Tier 2), and referral pathways (Tier 3).

-Identify evidence-informed, scalable school-based strategies (e.g., SBIRT models, non-clinical workforce approaches, alternatives to exclusionary discipline) that can translate clinical science into sustainable systems-level change.
