Description

Today on MedNet21, we're going to discuss Hip Preservation Surgery. 

Learners will be able to describe common non arthritic hip conditions around the hip, including diagnosis and basic management options. Description and identification of pain from sources outside the hip joint itself.  Hip flexor injuries, greater trochanteric pain syndrome, stress fractures and hamstring injuries will be included, among others.

Objectives

As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to:  IDENTIFY different potential causes for hip pain outside of the hip joint; IDENTIFY potential surgical indications for
extra-articular hip pain; EXPLAIN the pathomechanism of femoracetabular impingement; and EXPLAIN common extra-articular (non-joint related) hip conditions and treatment options.

You’ll also learn about the following:

  • Femoroacetabular impingement
  • Conditions other than osteoarthritis that can cause hip pain
  • Distinguishing femoroacetabular impingement from osteoarthritis
  • Long-term prognosis for femoroacetabular impingement
