Objectives
-Define intergenerational transmission and name some ways in which child mental health risk and resilience is shaped within families.
-Articulate a dialectical perspective on parenting, one which acknowledges the pain and distress of mental health struggles while also recognizing the unique strengths that often accompany mental health problems.
-Describe parenting from a dynamic perspective, including some of the methods and measures that are used to understand parent-child dynamics.
-Recognize the importance of context and multigenerational processes on the intergenerational transmission of psychopathology.
